An American hacker reportedly took down the internet in North Korea single-handedly in a revenge attack after falling victim to alleged North Korean hackers the year before. North Korean hackers have long been blamed for many attacks on American and Western interests, with the notorious Lazarus Group said to be behind many of them. The Lazarus Group has previously been accused of the cyberattack on Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2014, and for spreading the WannaCry ransomware in 2018. The North Korean internet is a heavily censored service with most global websites unavailable to the common person. According to reports, most people with access to the global internet in the country are either government officials or researchers, and even then, their internet access is heavily monitored by Pyongyang.More...
