While a core group of figures remained in the focus of The Office, a handful of notable characters were fired from the company at the center of the sitcom. The series, developed by Greg Daniels, documented the everyday lives of workers at Dunder Mifflin, a fictional paper company with branches throughout the Northeastern section of the United States. The Office, in particular, used a mockumentary format to follow Dunder Mifflin's Scranton, Pennsylvania branch, which was led by Regional Manager Michael Scott.
